Here you will find information about how student progress in academic achievement and habits of learning is recorded and reported to them and their parents/guardians. That information will be conveyed in a standards-based-grading program (called JumpRope) in the form of tests, quizzes, re-takes, projects, presentations, etc., and reported on a scale of 1 to 4, based on the Learning Targets, which show students not only what their score means, but how it can be improved.
Student progress is separated into two distinct categories, achievement and habits of learning. Grades will be based on achievement in the academic standards outlined in the Learning Targets. Feedback will also be provided on each student’s habits of learning, which will not be directly reflected in their grade but may well explain them and also provide avenues for improvement.
The above achievement will be reported through e-mail to parents and/or guardians at the end of each unit and should occur approximately every 4 to 6 weeks. Units lasting longer than 8 weeks will have a progress report sent home at about the midpoint of the unit.
